The Path to Safe AGI: Scaling Automated Research

Why Blankline is working towards a 10-million agent architecture grounded in directed learning and safety.

The Path to Safe AGI: Scaling Automated Research

The release of the D3 Engine and Horizon Mode marks a significant milestone in autonomous reasoning. But for us, this is only the beginning.

Having solved the "Linearity Barrier" at the 10,000-agent scale, we have proven that deterministic runtimes can make AI reliable. Now, we are turning our focus to the ultimate challenge: Building Safe Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

We are officially announcing our roadmap to scale our Recursive Swarm infrastructure from 10,000 agents to 10,000,000 concurrent agents. This capability has not arrived yet—it is the "North Star" of our research division. We are actively working to bridge this gap through a rigorous process of study, experimentation, and architectural hardening.

Our Primary Focus: Safety First, Scale Second

The race for parameter count has distracted the industry from the most critical metric: Alignment Fidelity.

At Blankline, our only priority is building AGI that is mathematically bound to human-defined safety constraints. We believe that true AGI will not emerge from a single "God Model," but from a Supernarrow Swarm—a massive, distributed network of specialized agents working in concert.

We are designing the 10M Agent Swarm to operate as a "Digital CERN"—a scientific instrument capable of simulating, debating, and verifying hypotheses at a scale the human mind cannot comprehend. But unlike previous approaches, we are not leaving the learning process to chance.

The Methodology: Directed Learning & Research

We are scaling towards this 10-million agent target using a protocol we call Directed Learning.

Rather than relying on unsupervised reinforcement learning (which can lead to unpredictable behaviors), our roadmap focuses on four distinct phases of active development:

  1. Study: We are utilizing our current "Scout Swarms" to read and ingest the entirety of existing scientific literature, forming a "Ground Truth" bedrock.
  2. Experimentation: We are building virtual laboratories where agents can propose hypotheses and run simulated experiments in isolated, sandboxed environments.
  3. Directed Research: We are training the system not just to solve problems, but to formulate safe research questions. The system is rewarded only when its discovery process adheres to strict ethical guidelines.
  4. Recursive Hardening: As we scale from 10k to 1M to 10M, every jump in capability is gated by a Safety Evaluation. If the system cannot prove its alignment, we do not scale.

A Future Built on "Supernarrow" ASI

We envision a future where this Supernarrow ASI (Artificial Superintelligence) serves as a global engine for discovery.

Imagine a 10-million agent swarm dedicated solely to Computational Biology, running 50 years' worth of protein folding simulations in a week. Imagine a swarm dedicated to Material Science, iterating through carbon-capture catalyst designs at exponential speeds.

This is the promise of the Blankline roadmap. We are not building AGI to replace human intent; we are building it to amplify human capacity.

The path to 10 million agents is steep, and the engineering challenges are immense. But we are committed to walking this path with transparency, rigor, and an unwavering commitment to safety.
